Welcome

I am Sharon Barden, owner and Head Tutor of Abacus Tuition.

I am a fully qualified, very experienced Primary School teacher, living and working in Abbots Langley, which is near Watford, Hertfordshire.

I am, of course, CRB checked and fully insured. I have written articles for the local magazine About My Area - Life and currently write for the leading teachers' magazine Teach Primary.

My philosophy on education is very simple - it's all about the children.
I feel that there is way too much pressure on schools to meet targets for them to give each child the education they deserve. Teachers and pupils alike are driven by SATs, goals and levels. And as for Secondary Transfer...

Abacus Tuition is different.
I use a combination of games, songs Brain Gym (TM) and laughter along with the hard work to identify an individual child's needs and help them to fill in any gaps in their learning. I transfer the same skills to my Saturday School, where many of the children are focusing on SATs or Secondary Transfer tests.
